This is Larry Pollard's 9th total and 7th in a row Alabama State Championship Title.
Josh Armstrong is the 2007 Alabama State 2nd Place Runner-up Champion
Gayle Helterbrand wins Majors Division
Ted Williamson wins Minors Division
A wonderful time was had by all, Thank you Larry Pollard and Frank & Mary Davis for the warm welcome and a well organized tournament.
Master & Majors Divisions played a round robin, Minor Division played a round robin with the last two rounds Swiss.
11 States representing 27 contestants, Mayor Larry Albright of Haleyville opened the tournament with a warm welcome.
Each of the three Division top finishers received cash prize and trophies. (All 1st & 2nd places were awarded trophies and TOTAL CASH $2,080.00)
James Murray, AL and Greg Murray of Atlanta, GA are 1st cousins. Stan Morris and Harold Thornton of MS drove in together.
Several area merchants donated money, food, and prizes.
Haleyville Northwest Alabamian News reported the event with an article by Jim Mayhall, November 24, 2007 - Alabamian - "Pollard wins ninth state checkers title"
Bob Murr emailed tables 11/10/07 and Official Tables and Titles were reported by Frank Davis 11/15/07.
